The free software Minesweeper implementation for Python

Pysweeper is yet another implementation of that classic brain-bending puzzle game, Minesweeper.

The latest version is 1.0; you can download a source tarball containing everything you need to install and play the game. Documentation is included, but if you like, you can also read the README file on-line; it contains instructions for installing the game.

Why play Pysweeper, rather than stick with the competition?

Pysweeper is free software: you're free to use it however you like, share it with others, change it, and give modified versions to others. In short, Pysweeper gives you freedom over your software.
Pysweeper is easy to install and play.
Pysweeper includes a number of features to aid gameplay; most other Minesweeper games lack one or more of these. Pysweeper allows you to sweep tiles, provides visual cues when opening tiles, shows you how long you've been playing, and much more.

Pysweeper does not provide little extras like a high score list and graphical configuration. For the pure gameplay experience, however, Pysweeper can't be beat. (All in my ever-so-humble opinion, of course.)
